STEALTH SPOTLIGHT: MEET CROOKSYPLAYS
During the current lock down, we caught up with Mixer streamer, Man of many faces and STEALTH Partner CrooksyPlays, to have a chat about; his favourite games, his thoughts on the future and to find out why he chose STEALTH.
It would have been great to speak with him in person, however with current restrictions, we had to settle for a virtual meeting. Something that Aaron is used to, streaming in front of over 23,000 followers 6 days a week.
You may have already watched CrooksyPlays streams, but here is a little bit more of the person behind the streams. Here is what he had to say;
What is your Streaming Name? Crooksyplays
I spend most of my time on my PC streaming on Mixer, I then upload my streams onto other platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.
What is your favourite Game (Ever) and Why?
This is a hard question, because I actually have 3 that I love to play for different reasons. First, there’s Minecraft, this is my number 1 chill game where I get to chat a lot more on my streams. I love to see what other people have created and it’s just got a nice atmosphere. My second game is Forza, because I love the competition with friends, I mean who doesn’t love hooning it down the track? Finally, it has to be Call of Duty, because I love shooting stuff (virtually of course) and it’s the competitive side again which makes it fun.
What Game are you playing now?:
I’m currently playing on Forza, constantly trying to get faster and faster, beating my personal best. If you want to be the fastest out there, you need to keep practicing and that is the aim for me, to be the fastest on the game.
How long have you been streaming?
It has been around 2 and a half years since I started streaming. I can’t believe how quick it has gone, but like they say time flies when you’re having fun and I love streaming, interacting with my followers and it’s been such a fun ride so far. I can’t wait to see what comes next for me.
What made you want to get into streaming?
A few years ago I had to have a spinal operation, which mean’t I had to have time off work for almost a year. Although the time was needed for me to recover, I couldn’t stand the boredom and spent most of my time just playing on my XBOX. I then stumbled across Mixer and looked into it a little bit more. I spent time watching other streamers doing their thing and thought I would give it a go, it turns out I wasn’t the worst at it, so I carried on streaming and slowly my audience started to grow.
It came at the right time for me, because I was off work for so long, it helped me get that interaction that I was missing day to day. I eventually went back to work after a full recovery, but I loved streaming so much that I carried on and here I am 2 and a half years later doing something I am passionate about with the best followers out there.
What is your current following?
I currently have over 23,000 followers on Mixer which is fantastic. My followers are truly amazing, we have a good chat on my streams and are always up for a laugh.
Do you have an aim for following in the next couple of years?
I wouldn’t say that I have an aim for my following or a particular figure in mind. The main aim for me is to make it a full time, sustainable job for myself, which let’s be honest is every Gamers dream. I don’t know how long it could take to get to that stage, but if I keep doing what I am doing, then I will get there eventually.
How difficult has it been to get where you are now?
In all honesty, it hasn’t actually been that difficult. I don’t mean that to sound big headed, but it’s because I enjoy it so much and I haven’t put a lot of pressure on myself to reach certain goals. Yes, you have to put a lot of time into it, get to grips with the streaming equipment and keep your content fresh, but because I am having a great time doing it, I wouldn’t say it has been a hard job.
What kind of struggles have you experienced?
The only REAL struggle you get when broadcasting to the world is that you sometimes stumble across people that try to bring you down. I have encountered negativity in the past from people watching my streams, but there are also a lot of amazing people out there, that use platforms like Mixer for what they are meant for, to join the conversation and celebrate peoples achievements. These are the people that make it worthwhile.
Some people say that the trolls are just part of being a streamer, but it doesn’t have to be. I am lucky, as I can rise above the negativity, but some people can’t and I can only hope that one day we can stamp it out and enjoy each others creativity.
How long have your been a partner of STEALTH?
I have been a STEALTH Partner for 12 months now! Again it has gone so fast I didn’t realise that it has been a year already.
Do you have a partnership with other brands? What are they?
I do have partnerships with other brands, such as Halberd Desks, who produce amazing desks perfect for Gaming. Another partnership that I have is with Fierce PC, a custom PC building company, which I am also part of their Stream Team.
What appealed to you about working with STEALTH?
I’ll be honest, it’s hard to find a company that produces high quality products without charging a stupid amount for them. I mean, you can get a great gaming headset for between £19.99-29.99 that will last you for a decent amount of time. They are stylish too, with a huge range of products available, I have tried out a few headsets and charging solutions from them and have been happy with everything I have tested.
Which STEALTH Headset are you using at the moment?
I am currently using the STEALTH C6-300 Stereo Gaming Headset which i absolutely love. Honestly, the sound that you get from the headset is the best I have experienced. The fitting is super comfy, even fitting my large head! It is crazy, that you can buy this headset for just £19.99, so if you are looking for a headset for casual gaming and don’t want to spend a lot, this is the one for you.
Would you recommend your friends and followers to apply to become a STEALTH Partner? If so, Why?
Hell yeah I would! I am lucky that I work with 3 amazing companies that support me in what I am trying to achieve. STEALTH are always speaking with me, asking me what I think about new products and whether I want to be part of things (like this) and it’s great to be part of an amazing company like STEALTH.
When new products have been developed, I have been able to test them before they even go into shops and they are really easy to chat to. You know that STEALTH is not just a company that wants to make sales, it cares about the people it works with and their customers and that is reiterated when you start working with them.
Where can we find your channel?
How many days do you stream and what are they?
My aim is to stream at least 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) but I usually end up streaming on the Saturday too because I love it so much. So if you are free at any point Monday – Saturday, come check me out on Mixer and chat to me.
