Steep: Road to the Olympics is Out Now
Earlier this year at E3 Ubisoft announced that they would be bringing an expansion to Steep, the open world winter sports game that gave players the ability to ski, snowboard and glide with a wingsuit through the Alps.
The expansion which is titled Road to the Olympics is out now on PS4 and Xbox One and as you can probably guess by the title, it is focused around the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
It has a separate story mode centered on a hopeful young athlete training to reach the Olympic Winter Games and be the first athlete ever to win gold in three freestyle events (Big Air, Half Pipe, and Slopestyle) and although the expansion is set in South Korea, you’ll also be able to venture to Japan and hit the slopes there.
The Japanese regions bring new challenges and mountain stories, which is where the player will encounter a strange NPC who will discuss the history and tales of the specific region as the player chases them down whichever trail in which the historian leads them. Japan is rife with exploration opportunities amidst the freestyle events that are scattered throughout the mountainous countryside.
You also get the chance to compete in other events like the Giant Slalom, Slalom, Super-G, Downhill, Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross, Slopestyle, Big Air, Ski Halfpipe, Ski Cross and Ski Slopestyle so you can test out your skills across a whole range of Winter Olympic events
