Struggling to set up your mic on Discord? Please see the below settings to get your headset set up correctly on the app.

In Discord, open the settings menu (this should look like a gear/cog symbol) in the bottom left.

At the settings menu, select voice & video which should take you directly to the page shown below.

Then under input device you should be able to choose from the drop down menu, microphone realtek(R) audio. And your output device should be set to speakers realtek(R) audio. You can test the volume and quality of your current microphone or headset by clicking let’s check under mic test.

Then under voice activity, you can adjust the sensitivity of this setting. Discord automatically determines mic sensitivity by default. But you can adjust the slider to be more or less sensitive to your own personal preference.

It’s advisable to have voice activity checked as opposed to having your mic settings set to push-to-talk.

Additional voice settings are also available under the advanced tab. Within that section, Echo Cancellation, Noise Suppression, Automatic Gain Control, and Quality of Service are all enabled by default. So we recommend leaving these settings enabled unless they are otherwise interfering with your existing setup.

Lastly, use the attenuation setting to make it easier to hear your friends or yourself when speaking. Raise the slider to increase how much Discord will lower the volume of your other applications.

We hope this article helps!
