Experiencing Audio or Mic issues with your STEALTH Headset?

The first thing you should do when encountering issues with a headset or mic, is to carry out some basic troubleshooting – as this will help you narrow down where the issue being experienced is stemming from.

Step 1:

Ensure your mic is not muted on the switch found along the headset cable, and ensure your headset volume is up to maximum using the volume rocker.

N/B: You’ll need to double-check the volume control unit is set up correctly, depending on whichever model version you have *refer to below*

Old V/C Units: These feature the wording ‘ON/OFF’ so ensure the slider is set to the OFF position on the Mic Mute Switch, so that the mic isn’t muted (as per the name).

New V/C Units: These will only feature the Mic Symbols. And so please ensure the switch is set to the mic symbol without a line through it in order for the mic to be active.

Step 2:

Connect your headset to a device with a 3.5mm Jack connection (such as a phone/tablet) to test whether the headset works on another device, other than your console. Try to have a phone call with the headset still connected and if it works for both audio and mic, you now know there isn’t an issue with the headset, but rather perhaps a settings issue with your console or the game you’re playing.

If you do not have another device with a 3.5mm jack port to test the headset on, then test the headset on another controller, as a means of determining whether the issue is with the headset or whether the problem is stemming from the original controller you may have been using. Sometimes a damaged or otherwise dirty controller port may prevent the headset from working correctly.

Alternatively, if a console is the only device you have, then go through the following tests on your choice of console:

Voice test on XBOX: Press the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the ‘home’ tab > scroll to the ‘people’ tab. Next, select anyone in your friend’s list and ‘Send Message’ you’ll then have the option to either type the message or you'll see a mic/recording option, select the recording option and record message by speaking into the mic. Just don’t send the recording, instead play it back to test whether you can hear yourself speaking.

Voice test on PlayStation: Go to settings > devices > audio devices > set input & output devices to headset connected to controller. Set output to headphones to ALL audio.

Next, head into ‘adjust microphone level’ and as per the instructions on the screen, proceed to speak into he mic, until the 'input volume' indicator is within the "good" range on the detection meter.

Voice test on PC: Type into the search bar ‘sound’ and find 'sound settings'. You should be taken to the following section, with the Audio Settings sitting first, and as you scroll down the Mic Settings sitting just below, as shown below.

Ensure your headset and mic setup reflects what's shown in the above two screenshots. And then finally to test whether all is good and whether your headset and mic is working correctly, proceed to the ‘test your microphone’ or ‘start test’ option. This should let you know whether you’ve configured your PC setup correctly.
